This session was a gift from a thoughtful partner – a Mother’s Day present that gave mum and her little girl a proper morning together in the studio, just the two of them.
Her baby was around six months old, which is such a lovely age for portraits. Alert, smiley, taking everything in with those big wide eyes. Old enough to sit up with a bit of support and interact, young enough to still feel very much like a baby. They both wore white, which was entirely their own idea and worked beautifully.
One of the things I notice again and again is how rarely mums are in the photos. They’re usually the ones behind the camera, or stepping out of the frame, or just not quite getting round to booking something for themselves. So when a session comes in that’s specifically about getting mum in front of the lens, I love it.
This one was exactly that. Just a mum and her daughter, six months in, at the point where everything is starting to feel a little more settled and a little more like themselves. The kind of morning worth remembering.
If someone you love deserves a session like this, gift vouchers are available all year round.
