This is one of my Christmas baby setups, using a prop combination that’s been in the studio for years, just not in this way.
The small armchair was originally bought for newborns, but it turns out it works brilliantly for babies who are almost sitting independently. It gives gentle support without forcing a pose and allows younger babies to be photographed safely in setups that would normally be reserved for older sitters.
It wouldn’t be suitable for babies who are still very floppy, and as always there’s a parent close by, just out of shot, to make sure everything stays safe and comfortable.
This small shift opens up a lot more options for younger babies during sessions, without changing the calm, simple approach I aim for in the studio.
