This little dress has been kept safe for years. Her nanny held onto it after her daughter, this baby’s mum, wore it for a photo shoot when she was little.
Now it’s been brought out again, ten days into the next generation.
The plan is to put it back in safekeeping once more, in case this little girl has a daughter of her own one day.
It’s a small floral dress with a green ribbon bow, which sounds simple enough, but when you know the story behind it the image becomes something else entirely. That’s the thing about bringing something personal to a session, it changes what the photo means.
She was around ten days old and slept beautifully in the moses basket throughout. The chunky knit blanket, the natural wicker, the soft neutral tones, it all let the dress be the thing it should be: the point of the picture.
