This family came in twice within a few weeks of each other. The first visit was to mark the last time they would be a family of three,  just the two of them and their little boy, before everything changed. The second was when their daughter arrived.

I’ve been photographing them since their son was a newborn, so this felt like a natural continuation of something that was already going. They’re a relaxed, informal family, not interested in stiff poses or formal arrangements, just good pictures of real moments. Both sessions reflected that.

The first image is exactly what they’re like together. All three of them, arms around each other, laughing. No direction needed.

The second is their daughter’s newborn session, the four of them gathered around her in that quiet, close way that only really happens in the first few days. Her big brother looking down at her with what can only be described as serious consideration.

Two very different images, two very different moods, the same family at two moments that are about three weeks apart and about a million miles away from each other in terms of what life looks like.

I’m already looking forward to watching her grow up over the next year.

Newborn Photography in East Grinstead

The best time for your baby’s newborn session is between five and ten days old, when they’re at their sleepiest and curliest and those calm, natural images come easiest. I’d recommend booking while you’re still pregnant, so we can pencil in a provisional date and adjust once your baby arrives.

Your session takes place in my warm, cosy studio in Crawley Down, designed with your baby’s comfort in mind. Sessions are relaxed and unrushed, and include three digital images of your choice for £95. There’s no sales session, just a private online gallery where you can view and choose your favourites in your own time.
