These two have been friends since they were practically newborns. So when they both turned thirteen, they booked a joint session to mark it, which is a very good idea and one I’d happily recommend to anyone with a milestone birthday coming up.

We worked through a range of looks across the session, from casual to more formally dressed, which gave them a proper variety of images to take away. Their mum brought along the giant number balloons, which went down well. Big foil number balloons are not just for toddler birthday parties, they photograph really well with older kids and teenagers too, and these ones were exactly the right shade of pink.
They were great fun to work with. Relaxed, confident, and clearly very comfortable with each other after thirteen years of friendship.
A joint portrait session is a nice way to mark a shared milestone. If you’ve got a significant birthday coming up and someone to celebrate it with, it’s worth considering.
