Mermaid Photo Shoots are designed for children, but the two experiences suit quite different ages and temperaments. Here’s a quick guide to help you work out which one might be right for your child.
Little Mermaid Sessions (ages 2 to 5)
These are for younger children who love imaginative play and don’t need much encouragement to throw themselves into a bit of make-believe. The set is colourful and tactile, with plenty to look at and explore. There’s a bubble machine. Costumes are provided. Most little ones are completely at home within about thirty seconds.
These sessions work well for children who are naturally curious and happy in new environments. They’re not designed for very young children who need extended settling time, as the sessions are short by design. Up to two children from the same family can be photographed together, so they’re a good option for siblings close in age.
Digital Mermaid Artwork (ages 5 and over)
These are for older children who can follow gentle posing guidance and are happy to take direction for a short session. The studio part is fairly minimal — your child is photographed against a simple backdrop – but the finished result is something quite different. I take those photographs and build them into one of three underwater scenes, handcrafted individually afterwards.
These sessions are for one child only, and work best for children who are comfortable in front of a camera and can stay focused for a short guided session.
Not sure which to choose?
