This little one has been in the studio four times in his first year. Albie the cocker spaniel came to the first session and the last one, and skipped the two in the middle. Honestly, Albie’s commitment to the key milestones is commendable.

At the newborn session, Albie settled himself next to a sleeping baby on the bed and looked directly at the camera with an expression that suggested he had serious reservations about the whole situation. At the first birthday, he sat in the chair next to a very cheerful one-year-old and looked directly at the camera with an expression that suggested he still had serious reservations, but had made his peace with it.
The baby, meanwhile, had a lot to say for both sessions. The contrast between the two is quite something – a swaddled newborn fast asleep next to a very uncertain dog, and a curly-haired one-year-old grinning his head off next to a very resigned dog.
Family came along for the birthday session but stayed off camera. It was really Albie and the birthday boy’s moment.
Dogs are always welcome at sessions, by the way. They bring a lot to a photo.
