a newborn sleeping on their tummy wearing a little bear bonnet

There is something very special about keeping a newborn portrait simple.  No elaborate props. No busy setups. Just soft tones, natural light, and a tiny baby curled exactly as they want to be.

This little one settled beautifully into this pose. Curled on their side, hands tucked in, wearing the softest bonnet. The neutral background keeps everything calm and allows all the attention to stay exactly where it should be.  On them.

Newborn sessions in my West Sussex studio are baby led. I allow plenty of time for feeding, settling and cuddles. Some babies love being wrapped. Some prefer to stretch out. Some need a little more patience. That is all completely normal.

The aim is never to rush. It is to create images that feel peaceful and timeless.  These early days pass quickly. The curled up poses. The tiny fingers. The soft newborn skin. They change in a matter of weeks.

If you are expecting, the best time to book your newborn session is during pregnancy. Sessions usually take place within the first two weeks after birth, when babies are still naturally sleepy and happy to curl.

Newborn Photography in East Grinstead

Newborn photo shoots are best when your baby is between 5 and 10 days old—this is when they’re at their sleepiest and curliest, perfect for capturing those beautifully serene images. To ensure you don’t miss out, I recommend booking while you’re still pregnant—we’ll set a provisional date for a week after your due date and adjust if needed once your baby arrives.

Your session takes place in my warm and cosy studio in Crawley Down, designed for your baby’s comfort. The shoot is relaxed, unrushed, and includes three digital images of your choice, all for £95. There’s no sales session—just a private online gallery where you can view and select your favourites at your own pace.
