Summer is often associated with busy schedules, long days, and a feeling that you should be making the most of the season. But for many families, having a baby in summer can feel more flexible than expected.
Longer daylight can make days feel less rigid while routines are still forming. When nights and naps are unsettled, that extra light can soften the sense of time passing and make days feel more forgiving. Schedules also tend to ease slightly in summer, with fewer fixed commitments and more space to take things as they come.
Lighter clothing can make feeding and skin-to-skin contact simpler, helping babies stay comfortable without layers to manage. Being able to step outside briefly, when it suits you rather than because you feel obliged to, can also feel manageable during the early weeks.
From a photography point of view, summer works very well in the studio. Sessions remain cool, calm, and predictable, regardless of the weather outside. Everything is controlled and unhurried, allowing babies and parents to settle comfortably.
Summer doesn’t need to feel busy or demanding. For some families, it’s simply a season that allows flexibility, softness, and space while life with a new baby takes shape.
Newborn Photography in East Grinstead
Newborn photo shoots are best when your baby is between 5 and 10 days old—this is when they’re at their sleepiest and curliest, perfect for capturing those beautifully serene images. To ensure you don’t miss out, I recommend booking while you’re still pregnant—we’ll set a provisional date for a week after your due date and adjust if needed once your baby arrives.
Your session takes place in my warm and cosy studio in Crawley Down, designed for your baby’s comfort. The shoot is relaxed, unrushed, and includes three digital images of your choice, all for £95. There’s no sales session—just a private online gallery where you can view and select your favourites at your own pace.
