When I open the Pumpkin Forest for Halloween photo shoots on October 17th, you won’t be the only visitors. I have staff members who shall also be in attendance – including this helpful little mouse
Meet Pipkin – the Forest Guide
Not all travellers who stumble into the Pumpkin Forest know where they’re going — but thankfully, Pipkin does.
Small but steady, Pipkin is the official Forest Guide, leading visitors along winding mossy paths to the brightest pumpkins and the cosiest corners. He carries no lantern, but none is needed; he simply follows the rustle of leaves and the quiet signals whispered by Niblet, his friend and pumpkin keeper. Together, they make sure no one is ever truly lost.
Pipkin is known for his cheery chatter, and his red scarf and hat bobbing through the undergrowth have become a welcome sight to wanderers. He pauses often to point out things others might miss: the softest moss to sit upon, the first pumpkin to turn gold, or the way the branches bend like an archway at the forest’s edge.
If you visit the Pumpkin Forest this October, don’t worry about the twisting paths. Just keep an eye out for a bright red hat, and Pipkin will make sure you find your way to the pumpkins waiting just for you.
