I’m never going to lie to you and it’s a fact undeniable that newborn photo shoots don’t always go to plan. What’s a little bit deceptive of me (and all other newborn photographers really) is that you only ever see the photos when it’s peaceful.
More often than not, for every sleepy dreamy newborn image you’ll see, there will be another that looks like the one above when you move the slider across!
When a newborn cries and fusses in their session, I can sometimes see a look of panic come across parents’ faces and disappointment that they feel they won’t get any photos. I can promise you that it isn’t the case that we give up as soon as a baby has a little bit of an unsettled moment – we simply work through it, give them what they need to settle down and then get back to the business of capturing your newborn images.
So the message here is, don’t worry if your baby cries at their session. They usually do and everything works out just fine.
Newborn Photography
A newborn photo shoot is best when your baby is between 5 and 10 days old as this is when they are at their maximum sleepiness and poseability to capture those dreamy shots. For this reason, I definitely recommend that you book when you are pregnant as this is one less thing to worry about scheduling when you’ve just got home from the hospital. We make an appointment for your due date plus 7 days and then adjust it as needed.
My newborn shoots include your three favourite digital images which you select from your online gallery a few weeks after your photo shoot – I don’t make you attend a sales or viewing session. Sessions take place in my warm and cosy studio in Crawley Down and cost £95.
