Ok, this is not the most glamorous post I’ve ever written. But it is a useful one.

Children are quite often snotty. It doesn’t matter if they have a cold or not – for a lot of kids, this is just their default setting.
In day-to-day life, a quick baby wipe swipe does the job. But when you’re coming to the studio, it pays to be a bit more thorough. Snot shows in photos, and while I completely understand that kids don’t love having their faces cleaned, we do need to bite the bullet at the start of the session.
Photoshop is a wonderful thing, and AI capabilities have come on a long way – but until someone introduces a proper de-snot filter, nostrils are almost impossible to rebuild without the result looking very artificial. So we do need to sort it in real life.
Don’t worry if you forget or run out of wipes on the way. I have plenty at the studio and you’re always welcome to use them. I’ll give everything a good check at the start of the session and we’ll keep on top of it throughout so your little one looks their best in every shot.
And if Photoshop does ever introduce that filter, I will absolutely use it. We’ll all save a fortune on wet wipes.
