Dog Photography West Sussex Studio

I’ve never been anything but honest about my reasons for introducing dog photography as part of my studio offering at the start of 2022, I really just wanted to meet as many dogs as possible!

It’s a plan to say that I’m happy to say has worked wonderful and I have snuck pets in between photos at many a great canine photo shoot.  Of course, it’s a bit of a different discipline to baby photography but there are some commonalities.

Both dogs and babies are energetic and unpredictable creatures, so capturing their essence requires patience and good timing. I’m always prepared to spend some time getting to know the dog and allowing them to become comfortable in the studio.  However, I also feel it’s important not to allow the session to become stale so we work as fast as they will allow us to get the shots before the whole experience becomes boring for them.

In other transferable skills between dogs and babies is that they each have their own personalities and capturing this is what I’m here for.   Letting your pup relax and be themselves is always going to give us the best images, although we obviously need to direct them a little on where to do this 🙂

Dogs have many different expressions and pet photography purists will tell you that there is only one correct one for photography which is tongue in, mouth closed.  Now that is correct about getting a traditional dog portrait but if your dog has a winning smile, then that should be allowed to shine through too.  Ears are another important feature and we’ll work to capture all different positions!
