One of the most fun things about including dog photography in my suite of services at the studio is all the breeds of dog that I get to meet.

This extremely handsome guy gave me first ever encounter with a Rhodesian Ridgeback and it did not disappoint.  They are hunting dogs that are commonly believed to have been bred to hunt lions although I think, in reality, they were more bred to track them. I mean, he’s a big guy but I wouldn’t have fancied his chances against a lion!

They get their name from the distinctive stripe of backwards growing hair along their spines and they’re commonly thought of as being a mix of affectionate and strong willed.  This guy certainly bore out both of those elements and landed himself in my lap on a few occasions and he certainly had ideas of his own when it came to where he was prepared to sit! Dog photography is always going to be a little bit unpredictable as you can’t really expect a dog in a new environment to follow all instructions but a little time and patience and we always get results.
