I’ve actually had my baby hammock for the longest time. It’s one of the first props I bought when I was starting out nearly twenty years ago. Props were pretty unusual in photography then too, so I’m glad it’s stood the test of time. Not everything I bought back then has, I should add.

Anyway, I digress. It works really well for newborns and also for the first Baby Photography Club session, as this little chap proves. Something a bit different, and babies seem to genuinely enjoy hanging out in it. You do need two adults to make the shot work, so if you want to include it at your club session just make sure you’ve got someone along with you.
It is a bit of a cheat if I’m honest. We don’t actually lift the baby anywhere near as high as it looks. We just lift them off the beanbag enough to get their weight into the hammock, and the rest is Photoshop smoke and mirrors.
