Newborn Photography in East Grinstead

At a newborn photo shoot the other day, somebody asked me if I had to edit newborn photos or if I could upload them straight from camera.

The answer is, emphatically, that each one is hand edited.  Now, each newborn life is beautiful and perfect in and of itself but the same can’t be said of their skin in those very early days.  Which would be true for all of us if we had been underwater for 9 months!  I don’t like images that make babies look like they are made of plastic but there is probably a great deal of work that goes on behind the scenes to hide up those temporary imperfections and show them off at their very best.

A great deal of babies have a degree of jaundice which is hand painted to correct it and then there are milk spots, little flakes and just general rough and blotchy patches.  Each of those issues requires a separate treatment in my editing suite to minimise them without taking away from your baby’s natural skin texture and making them look like plastic dolls!  I always say, the newborn shoot itself is probably 30% of what goes into producing your image gallery.  Luckily I love all the stages of providing you with your newborn memories to look back on over your lifetime.

Newborn Photography in East Grinstead

Newborn photo shoots are best when your baby is between 5 and 10 days old—this is when they’re at their sleepiest and curliest, perfect for capturing those beautifully serene images. To ensure you don’t miss out, I recommend booking while you’re still pregnant—we’ll set a provisional date for a week after your due date and adjust if needed once your baby arrives.

Your session takes place in my warm and cosy studio in Crawley Down, designed for your baby’s comfort. The shoot is relaxed, unrushed, and includes three digital images of your choice, all for £95. There’s no sales session—just a private online gallery where you can view and select your favourites at your own pace.
