Incorporating props and accessories into your pregnancy photo shoot has become a lot more popular over recent years. A quick Pinterest search will yield more ideas than I can cover here but here’s some popular ideas that folk have brought along in the past.
Scan Pictures
These are probably the most popular and are super cute to build in to your image gallery. Pick your favourite, preferably on e that has the most recognisable baby shape and give it a trim up to neaten up the frame / border before you come.
Books
Books you’ve been reading to your bump that you soon be reading to your baby make a very cute maternity photo shoot accessory. Guess How Much I Love You is a very popular choice here for obvious reasons but all are welcome. This is a nice item to include in both the maternity and newborn shoot to tie them together.
Baby Blocks & Initial Letters
If you’ve picked a name already then spelling it with blocks on your bump or in your hands can be sweet. If you don’t want to give the name away before your baby arrives, then you could always use just an initial letter like the large wood or paper mache ones you can get in craft stores. I have block sets at the studio or you can always bring your own.
Tiny Shoes, First Outfits & Baby Accessories
Whether or not you already know the gender of your new arrival, there’s a good chance that you’ve already bought a few bits ad pieces for them to wear. In the past, people have brought along tiny baby bootees, vests, miniature football strips and event tiny tiaras. Again, these are great to carry though to your newborn shoot to create a theme and link the two.
First Toys
You’re going to be in charge of picking the very toy that your newborn will come to love over the years ahead, so if you already have it then bring along to maternity session. I’m a firm believer in the power of a teddy bear so they may as well join the family early.
The Props I Have at the Studio
I have some props and accessories that you’re welcome to use when you visit the studio for your maternity photo shoot although of course I’m always happy to incorporate anything you bring along to personalise your session.
