I haven’t had the pleasure of working a wedding at the Ravenswood Hotel since it’s purchase by new owners last year and it was lovely to go back and see all of the changes they have made. You can certainly tell that one of the owning partners is a photographer as all of the rooms are definitely designed with that in mind.
A great example of this would the bridal preparations room – white, light and airy with gorgeous little touches throughout – makes the perfect backdrop for all of those getting ready photos. This was indeed where we started the day, plenty of room for everyone to get all of their hair and make up done in front of the full wall of mirrors and space to spread out and enjoy the anticipation while sipping on a little champagne. Then it was on to the ceremony which was being held outdoors. The weather was just perfect with a light cloud cover to give a soft and diffused light but in temperatures warm enough for all of the guests to be able to relax. The miniature castle (that’s just what it’s called in my head – I don’t think that is actually the name of it) that the ceremony is held in is the perfect backdrop. Then it was time to enjoy the grounds for some photos before the guests all moved on to the gloriously decorated reception room to continue the festivities.
There’s so much to enjoy from a photographic standpoint in the grounds of the Ravenswood, almost too much to get round in one session with the lake, the gardens, ruins and lovely little outbuildings. Plus of the course the giant chair. You obviously have to visit the giant chair!
