In a perfect world, a newborn would sleep throughout their shoot. When they’re at their most sleepy, I can gently move and pose them without disturbing them, and the session flows quickly and easily.
Of course, it isn’t always a perfect world. Some babies are naturally more wakeful, especially if they arrived a little late or if the session has been delayed past the ideal one-week mark. When a baby is wide awake and determined to take in everything around them, there’s only so much you can do once you’ve tried all the usual ways of settling them. This little one was super chilled and happy. She just didn’t feel sleepy, so we went with it.
Every session is led by your baby’s comfort. Whether your baby is fast asleep or wide awake, there are still lovely photos to be made of those early days.
