We started with some portraits just to capture her at her natural one year old and gorgeous best and then we added a cake into the mix.  Unlike many little ones who are a little unsure of the cake at first, Evie was keen to dive right in and was soon happily munching on the pretty pink cake that her very clever grandma made and iced for her.  In fact, she was enjoying the cake so much that I did get the distinct impression that the process of taking photos of this were just interrupting a very pleasant time that she was having!

After a significant amount of icing was consumed, it was time to put away the cake and get out the bath for the tub splash birthday photos.  I have a choice of two baths for little ones to splash in no – a rustic styled vintage tin tub and the more modern miniature white claw foot bath.  Evie’s mums favoured the more modern look and so we topped up my white bath with warm water (with plenty of bubble bath) and we were on to the splash photos.

Evie was clearly a massive fan of a bath and, as well as removing the remnants of the cake and icing, she had a fine time splashing and catching bubbles (my sidekick in the studio is a fish shaped bubble machine and I can’t really think of an occasion where he hasn’t been a hit with my tiny clients).   And voila, one happy clean baby all ready to go home and carry on with the birthday celebrations with a great set of photos to mark this momentous occasion!
