Sometimes portraiture can be a planned and staged affair – I’m not going to use the word formal as that’s not really my thing but definitely there is a strong element of posing and control involved in creating the images.  Then sometimes you are doing a portrait between two livewire kids and their parents and that means that you have to be realistic about how much control exactly you’re going to get.  I mean, have you ever tried to choreograph an 18 month old? Well, you know what I mean then…

So I just set up a broad scenario and we all find out what’s going to happen and capture that instead – this relaxed style of family photography is great for parents ad young children.  So what if everyone is looking at the camera – these images are natural and can capture the spirit of the  general fun, craziness and love that knits a family together.
