I love Pinterest – it’s just such a wealth of ideas from all around the world. I’ve lost count of the times I’ve found inspiration there from recipes to gifts to photography of course.  So I think it’s fair to say that these guys have their fingers on the wedding photography pulse so always look forward to their annual report.

Less is More

Small weddings are getting more popular as people look to celebrate their nuptials with only their closets friends and family or even just by themselves with elopement photography seeing a 128% increase in searches.

‘Backyard weddings’ are on the rise – whether couples are looking to keep the costs down or just enjoying the cosy atmosphere to these home styled, less formal affairs.

Keeping it Green

Hand in hand with this trend to keep the big day smaller, there is also an increased focus on sustainable weddings. The ‘Blue Planet Effect’ is definitely in full force with increases in searches for plastic free wedding ideas and natural themes becoming more popular.

Doughnut Crazy

This year’s big trend is doughnuts! You’re not going to get much argument from many quarters on this front – I can’t think of a single person I know that doesn’t love a doughnut. Stacks and towers instead of cakes, or whole multi coloured walls of those sweet treats – move over chocolate fountain – you’ve been replaced.

Neon Bright

Moving away from the natural themes, neon is set to be big with brides and grooms getting personalised neon signs created for fun, photography and home decor after the big day is over.

Gold Standards

If you’re wondering what colours are topping the list, the answer is gold.  Is gold actually a colour? No sure but there’s plenty of it around to add a touch of shimmering luxe to weddings everywhere.

Grazing Tables

Catering-wise, it’s all about grazing.  Informal platters are laid out for guests to pick at throughout the reception. Easier to arrange than formal catering and perfect for those relaxed picnic style back garden affairs.

Smoke Bombs

The trend to informality doesn’t mean that you can’t add a little drama however.  Relaxed doesn’t have to be boring and smoke bombs are set to be huge.  Both literally and as a photography trend as people are photographed in front of billowing plumes of brightly coloured smoke.

Cost friendly, environmentally friendly, laidback and fun are the watchwords for 2019 weddings – couldn’t love it more!

Wedding Photography

I offer two wedding packages so you can tailor your coverage to what suits you – one from the ceremony through to your wedding breakfast and one that also includes bridal party preparations – and both include a fully edited image gallery on memory stick.
