This image is the third in a trilogy that I’ve created – one at each of this family’s newborn sessions. Each featured their little one sleeping against a black background and supported in some way – first by a hammock, then on his dad’s arm and then this one, safely snoozing in his dad’s hands.
It’s nice to have a consistent theme between sessions in some ways as the resulting images can look great as wall art hung together in your home. Adding your hands into a picture is also a great way for you to get involved with your newborn photo shoot if you’re not feeling entirely camera ready. Of course, parents and siblings are welcome to join in with their new arrival’s pictures in any way that they would like to but sometimes, new parents aren’t feeling their best what with all the excitement and lack of sleep. Including your hands in an image is a great compromise and can create some really beautiful artwork for you to enjoy in all the years to come.
Newborn Photography
A newborn photo shoot is best when your baby is between 5 and 10 days old as this is when they are at their maximum sleepiness and poseability to capture those dreamy shots. For this reason, I definitely recommend that you book when you are pregnant as this is one less thing to worry about scheduling when you’ve just got home from the hospital. We make an appointment for your due date plus 7 days and then adjust it as needed.
My newborn shoots include your three favourite digital images which you select from your online gallery a few weeks after your photo shoot – I don’t make you attend a sales or viewing session. Sessions take place in my warm and cosy studio in Crawley Down and cost £95.
