My newborn shoots take place in my warm and cosy garden studio in Crawley Down (about halfway between Crawley and East Grinstead in West Sussex), where you are invited to relax on my super comfy chaise while we take time to capture those beautiful early days in photo form.

My studio is set up specifically to give us lots of options in capturing the perfect newborn photos from my oversized beanbag,  to posing props such as bowls, crates, drawers, and the most adorable mini bed to my blanket, wrap and accessory collection.  You have access to all of these so we can create the perfect style of photograph for you.

My sessions are completely baby led with your little one’s comfort and safety being my top priority.   I’m a very experienced baby and newborn photographer with it having been my full time job (rather than a part time hobby) for the last fifteen years. I have lots of tips and tricks in soothing and settling babies along with a wealth of knowledge in how to keep your baby completely safe and comfortable while still getting those adorably sleepy shots.

Each shoot is scheduled for at least two hours to allow ample time for your baby to settle into a deep and dreamy sleep where they will be at their most poseable (and of course to include time for feeding where required).  These sessions are much easier if you can bring your baby to the studio aged between five and ten days old (and definitely before they reach two weeks old).  During these early days, they are sleepy for most of the day and easy to move between poses and props.  It’s amazing how fast they start to engage with the world around them and that they soon lose this ability.

When Should You Book?

I recommend that you contact me to pencil in a date for your session when you have a due date.  How it works is that we book a shoot for your due date plus seven days and then you simply add me to the list of people that you let know when your baby arrives and we adjust your appointment to suit.  If you’ve already had your baby and decided that you’d like me to capture your newborn images, then just get in touch – I’ll always do my utmost to fit you in and get you the perfect set of photographs of your new family.

What’s Included in your Session Price?

Each session includes my time and experience in creating beautiful baby and family photos for you, plus editing of your images to the highest quality to remove all those little flakes, milk spots, blotches and jaundice marks to show your baby at their natural beautiful best.  Also included in your session are your five favourite digital images that you select, and download at print quality.  Unlike most other photographers, I don’t insist that you attend a viewing session – you simply view your finished gallery of images online as soon as they are ready for you (usually around two weeks after your session to make sure that they receive the proper level of digital love and attention).  Many of my customers love their images so much that they do purchase more but there’s no minimum spend or pressure to do so.

Photography in the Studio or at Home?

If you are looking for a wider variety of props, backdrops and accessories in your newborn photo shoot, then I definitely recommend that you visit me at your studio in Crawley Down.  However, if you’d rather the photography takes place in the comfort of your own home (you can stay in your PJs if you want, I don’t mind!) then I can bring a simple set of props, accessories, my posing beanbag and lights for a small additional fee.

A session in the studio includes your five favourite digital images and costs £95.  If you choose to have me create your images at your home, then the cost is £125.

A newborn photo shoot is best when your baby is between 5 and 10 days old as this is when they are at their maximum sleepiness and poseability to capture those dreamy shots.  For this reason, I definitely recommend that you book when you are pregnant as this is one less thing to worry about scheduling when you’ve just got home from the hospital.   We make an appointment for your due date plus 7 days and then adjust it as needed.

My newborn shoots include your three favourite digital images which you select from your online gallery a few weeks after your photo shoot – I don’t make you attend a sales or viewing session.  Sessions take place in my warm and cosy studio in Crawley Down and cost £95.
