This the beautifully named Orion who came to visit for his newborn photo shoot along with his mum, dad and big brother – who also joined in very nicely for a few photographs as well. I’m sure the photo of the two of them together is the start of a lot of mischief making between these two boys!
Orion was an excellent little model and settled pretty well once he was satisfied that his tummy was nice and full (all sessions are scheduled to allow plenty of time for feeding – it’s never nice to have to work when you’re hungry!) and we had time to work with some of stronger dark background colours which set off his skin tone so beautifully. His parents brought along that gorgeous personalised train set to include in their pictures – personalised items often make great props for a newborn photo shoot and are definitely worth bringing along if you have them. I have a good range of blankets, props and accessories such as hats and headbands that you’re welcome to use but I always think it’s nice to bring along some of your own items to make your session really unique to you.
A newborn photo shoot is best when your baby is between 5 and 10 days old as this is when they are at their maximum sleepiness and poseability to capture those dreamy shots. For this reason, I definitely recommend that you book when you are pregnant as this is one less thing to worry about scheduling when you’ve just got home from the hospital. We make an appointment for your due date plus 7 days and then adjust it as needed.
My newborn shoots include your three favourite digital images which you select from your online gallery a few weeks after your photo shoot – I don’t make you attend a sales or viewing session. Sessions take place in my warm and cosy studio in Crawley Down and cost £95.
