As far as possible with my newborn photography, I like to keep things in real life. However, as digital technology has advanced over the years, there are some exciting digital backdrops I can use to create composite images and I’ve handpicked a selection to add to my studio.
So although none of these beautiful set ups exist in real life – at least not for me, I presume they’ve existed at some point in order that someone could photograph them – they are available to include in your newborn images. I realise that they’re not everyone’s cup of tea of course, some folk prefer to keep it simple and that’s fine too. These are just options that are there if you want them.
In order that the composite work be realistic, I have to shoot with the backdrop in mind to make sure the pose and lighting match up to avoid that ‘baby stuck on’ look so when you’re letting me know what you’d like before your newborn session, I’ll know which backdrop you’ve got in mind so I can work towards making a seamless digital image.
When you’ve booked your newborn session, I’ll be in touch the day before to get you to complete a short form to let me know the colour scheme you have in mind, any props you’d like to include and also to select from my range of digital backdrops. That way I can have everything ready to go before you arrive and we don’t waste any time before we can start taking photos.
Newborn Photography
A newborn photo shoot is best when your baby is between 5 and 10 days old as this is when they are at their maximum sleepiness and poseability to capture those dreamy shots. For this reason, I definitely recommend that you book when you are pregnant as this is one less thing to worry about scheduling when you’ve just got home from the hospital. We make an appointment for your due date plus 7 days and then adjust it as needed.
My newborn shoots include your three favourite digital images which you select from your online gallery a few weeks after your photo shoot – I don’t make you attend a sales or viewing session. Sessions take place in my warm and cosy studio in Crawley Down and cost £95.
