This little lady was brought along to visit at just a few days old to get her newborn photos taken and her mum and dad.   They hadn’t booked anything as they hadn’t thought about getting pictures until they had their daughter in their arms so they were a bit of a last minute appointment.  I recommend booking while you’re still pregnant to guarantee studio availability but I’ll always try to find some space for you in those precious first two weeks if I can.

She wasn’t too settled at points during her session and that’s perfectly normal. I would say about 5% of babies stay asleep for the entirety of their photo shoot and that’s being generous so it’s to be expected that a person who has only been around for a few days is going to need some sort of comfort and attention while they’re in the studio. That’s why the sessions are scheduled for a relaxed two hour period so we have plenty of time to relax, snuggle and feed your little one as much as they need to get them into a deep and dreamy sleep where I can move and pose them easily.

The family wanted a mix of plain beanbag shots but they were keen to use some of my props to create some images as well so we used my large teak posing bowl and my baby hammock to complete a set of beautiful images they I know that they will treasure.

A newborn photo shoot is best when your baby is between 5 and 10 days old as this is when they are at their maximum sleepiness and poseability to capture those dreamy shots.  For this reason, I definitely recommend that you book when you are pregnant as this is one less thing to worry about scheduling when you’ve just got home from the hospital.   We make an appointment for your due date plus 7 days and then adjust it as needed.
