Little Jonah came to visit at just over a week old for his first official photos and he was a sleepy little fellow with the cutest mop of hair that we didn’t use too many hats so we could keep enjoying it.

His mum and dad brought along some lovely items to include, that little giraffe toy being one of them – small toys that your baby can easily hold are a great addition to the session as they are so easy to work with as props.    On the other end of the scale is something else that they brought along which is a massive elephant.  Without wishing to contradict myself, this type of prop also works really well as we can get your baby to lay on it for the pictures.  I guess the message there is, bring along anything you’d like to include in your session to make it personal to you and I’ll work it in there.   I only failed once that I can think of which is with a way to make a giant plastic duck look good with a newborn (although I then did go out and buy a giant plastic duck to use in my tub splash photo shoots and I wouldn’t have known about them unless he had been brought along to the session so I like to think he came into my life for a reason!).

We also took the time to make a little festive photo which I think will look perfect as a gift or holiday card image – I always have a few newborn sized Christmas props and accessories in the studio and the baubles happened to be on hand as I was testing my Christmas event set that day. Love them so much I think they are going to stay in the Christmas prop collection!

Newborn Photography

A newborn photo shoot is best when your baby is between 5 and 10 days old as this is when they are at their maximum sleepiness and poseability to capture those dreamy shots.  For this reason, I definitely recommend that you book when you are pregnant as this is one less thing to worry about scheduling when you’ve just got home from the hospital.   We make an appointment for your due date plus 7 days and then adjust it as needed.

My newborn shoots include your three favourite digital images which you select from your online gallery a few weeks after your photo shoot – I don’t make you attend a sales or viewing session.  Sessions take place in my warm and cosy studio in Crawley Down and cost £95.
