Little Lillie was a little older that I’d normally recommend for a newborn photo shoot at nearly five weeks old.  This meant that, from the start that we knew that we’d be likely to shoot a mix of sleepy and wakeful poses but actually she was quite happy to sleep for a good portion of her session which was a bonus.  Normally, it’s best to shoot newborns when they’re between five and ten days old for that maximum dreamy sleep factor.

Her mum and dad brought along some lovely gifts to include with her for her photos that had been handmade for them by family members – hand knitted blankets and bears – always a popular addition to any newborn photo shoot and a great way to say thank you to the giver for taking the time to create them.  They wanted bright colours rather than pastels for the most part so we used my beautiful purple background as a way of introducing colour (it also has the bonus of looking great in black and white) and then switching to a neutral grey blanket and adding the colour with the props and accessories.

A newborn photo shoot includes your time in the studio, access to any of my props and accessories that take your fancy and also your five favourite digital images to download print and share as much as you’d like to.  The cost for this is £95 – plus you get free membership to my baby photography club – Joey Club – to enjoy throughout your first year with your little one.   As with all of my photography, there’s no expensive viewing meeting to sit through – you simply view and order any images that you’d like from your private online gallery.

A newborn photo shoot is best when your baby is between 5 and 10 days old as this is when they are at their maximum sleepiness and poseability to capture those dreamy shots.  For this reason, I definitely recommend that you book when you are pregnant as this is one less thing to worry about scheduling when you’ve just got home from the hospital.   We make an appointment for your due date plus 7 days and then adjust it as needed.

My newborn shoots include your three favourite digital images which you select from your online gallery a few weeks after your photo shoot – I don’t make you attend a sales or viewing session.  Sessions take place in my warm and cosy studio in Crawley Down and cost £95.
