The Flying White is one of the more dramatic dresses in the studio collection, and the effect is created in a way that might surprise you.

It’s actually a composite image. The person wearing the dress just has to stand still and look comfortable, while a designated helper throws the fabric up into the air. I photograph both separately and stitch them together in the edit. The three behind-the-scenes shots above show the process in action, which makes it a lot clearer than trying to explain it.
The result is that sweeping, dynamic look without anyone having to do anything particularly complicated. You just need to bring someone along who’s happy to be the wafter.
If you’d like to include the Flying White in your maternity session, just mention it when you get in touch and we can make sure there’s a helper pencilled in for the job.
