One of the most common questions I get asked is when to book a newborn photo session. It is a fair one, because the timing genuinely matters.

Newborn photography works best when your baby is between five and ten days old. This is when they are at their most sleepy and curled, which makes those beautiful posed images possible. After the first two weeks, babies become more alert and harder to settle, so the window is a real one rather than just a suggestion.

The problem is that you cannot book for a specific date when you do not know exactly when your baby will arrive. Only around four percent of babies are born on their due date, and waiting until after the birth to make contact often means the window has already passed by the time a session can be arranged.

The solution is simple. Book while you are still pregnant, any time after your twenty week scan is fine, and we book provisionally for your due date plus seven days. From there, we adjust around when your baby actually arrives. If they come early, we bring the session forward. If they are late, we push it back. I keep a small number of days in the calendar each week that are not open for general booking, specifically so I can accommodate this flexibility.

You just need to let me know when your baby arrives and we will sort the rest.

Newborn Photography in East Grinstead

Newborn photo shoots are best when your baby is between 5 and 10 days old. This is when they’re at their sleepiest and curliest, perfect for capturing those beautifully calm and natural images. I recommend booking while you’re still pregnant so we can set a provisional date and adjust once your baby arrives.

Your session takes place in my warm, cosy studio in Crawley Down, designed with your baby’s comfort in mind. Sessions are relaxed and unrushed, and include three digital images of your choice for £95. There’s no sales session, just a private online gallery where you can view and choose your favourites in your own time.
