This was a cake smash with a vintage floral theme and the first that’s ever used my flower wall as a backdrop and I have to say, I am just in love with the results!

My flower wall is a fairly recent addition to the studio after I finally got around to making one after a great deal of wishing and procrastination (turns out that you actually have to get off your butt and do it rather than pining after pictures of them!). I’ve never used it for a cake smash and tub splash photo shoot before but it worked so perfectly with our lilac vintage theme that I just had to try it out.  Couple it with the perfect semi-naked cake and a lilac pettiromper and we were good to go for an extremely pretty shabby chic first birthday photo shoot.

Piper has been walking since she was ten months old so it was a bit tricky to entice her to sit still for long enough to sample some of that delicious cake but we got there in the end (with the aid of on my miniature wooden spoons which proved very popular) and she looked just lovely.  The tub splash had the advantage of holding her a bit more in one spot but even if it hadn’t, she was so happy splashing about that I don’t think she would have got up and gone anywhere anyway.  We decided to keep her little headband on in the bath because you can still accessorise and look fabulous while you’re cleaning up!

Cake Smash & Tub Splash Photo Shoots

A cake smash and tub splash photo shoot is the perfect way to celebrate and commemorate that extra special first birthday.   We start with a clean shoot and mum, dad and siblings are welcome to get involved here as well for family pictures if you’d like to.  Then it’s time to get out the cake for some smashing fun!  After that, it’s time to fill your choice of tub with warm and bubbly water for more great pictures and a good old icing removal clean up.  Each session includes your three favourite digital images (chosen from your online gallery, there’s no sales session) and costs £95.

Cake smash and tub splash sessions are also included in my baby photography club – the Joey Club so if you have a little one (under four months) take a look at that to find out more about capturing your first year together.
