The last time that this lovely family had a family portrait done in a photographic studio was when the kids were aged four and two and so they were well overdue for an update.
We actually set up one photo that matched the pose of one of those early photos that is currently hanging on the wall so that the two could be put together although the two images did look rather different as you can imagine!
The brief that they gave me was to capture them together and having fun and so that’s exactly what we did. We had a real blast creating all sorts of images of the whole family together as well as of the kids together and even taking a few moments to capture a rare image of just mum and dad together. This type of ‘mix and match’ session offers you the maximum variety of images to select from for your studio time and it’s a fun and relaxed way to approach portrait photography – a little unlike the forced and heavily posed work you might know from the Olan Mills of your childhood. We kept everything simple with a plain white / grey background and just let this little family unit sparkle!
