This is Remy and his big brother and sister, who came to visit my studio in Crawley Down (about half way between Crawley and East Grinstead), for his newborn photos.

We started with just Remy, his mum and me – newborn photo shoots are fantastically boring for small people and so I’d definitely recommend that they don’t come for the whole session.  If you’d like them to be included in the photos, it’s no problem at all but I’d recommend they come to visit at the end of the session and then they can enjoy their photos being taken without the pain of having to hang around and wait.

Remy was actually a very chilled out baby and we had a lovely session together so I decided that it was the perfect opportunity to get out the miniature bed that’s been metaphorically burning a hole in  my pocket since I finished it as I’ve been dying to try it out.  I know that experimentation isn’t the point of a newborn photo shoot but I have to say, I just love the results.  It’s a really cute addition to the session and a very easy prop to work with for your baby.  That sounds odd but some props such as bowls and buckets demand a very set pose from a baby which they may not find all that comfortable (they are all different and have their preferences even when they are just a few days old) but you can use the bed in any number of positions and with different accessories so it’s perfect for babies who like to do their own thing.

Newborn Photography

A newborn photo shoot is best when your baby is between 5 and 10 days old as this is when they are at their maximum sleepiness and poseability to capture those dreamy shots.  For this reason, I definitely recommend that you book when you are pregnant as this is one less thing to worry about scheduling when you’ve just got home from the hospital.   We make an appointment for your due date plus 7 days and then adjust it as needed.

My newborn shoots include your three favourite digital images which you select from your online gallery a few weeks after your photo shoot – I don’t make you attend a sales or viewing session.  Sessions take place in my warm and cosy studio in Crawley Down and cost £95.
