One of the backdrop ideas I worked to create over the lockdown periods was this gorgeous dark wood shutters.  I had wanted it for a while and actually these shutters are reversible to create a light wood alternative on the other side – always thinking about how to get the most out of my storage space!

Of course I initially went to look at vintage shutters from salvage yards but they were crazy expensive and also I was worried about sharp edges, unsafe paint and mould so I decided to create my own brand new ones.  The dark wood ones pair perfectly with my fine art brown canvas and that traditional look has certainly been very popular in the studio recently.  I love how Theo’s classic outfit works in this setting – it’s a great complement to the backdrop and the simple style really keeps the focus where it should be  – on his beautiful little face.
