We start off with some family portraits (if required) and some of your little one with some of my first birthday props and anything that you would like to include. Then we move on to the main event – the cake smash. If you haven’t heard of this before then it is pretty much exactly as it sounds – you give the birthday boy or girl a cake and just let them explore it for themselves. Eating it, smearing it, wearing it – there’s no rules here. It doesn’t need to be a fancy cake either – just plenty of buttercream icing on a shop bought sponge will do, although some people do opt to bring along some stunning professionally made cake creations.
After all the smashing fun, then you can choose to clean up in my big tin tub – full with warm water and lots of bubbles and with a choice of accessories (although if I’m honest, my giant duck does usually get in on the action at some point!). Cleaning up, getting great images and having a fine old time all in one easy process.
Time after that to go home and carry on your celebrations. Your images are normally ready two weeks after the event so if you want them for the actual birthday, then you need to book that far in advance. You view and order your images directly from your private online gallery so there’s no viewing or sales meeting to attend.
Cake Smash & Tub Splash Photo Shoots
A cake smash and tub splash photo shoot is the perfect way to celebrate and commemorate that extra special first birthday. We start with a clean shoot and mum, dad and siblings are welcome to get involved here as well for family pictures if you’d like to. Then it’s time to get out the cake for some smashing fun! After that, it’s time to fill your choice of tub with warm and bubbly water for more great pictures and a good old icing removal clean up. Each session includes your three favourite digital images (chosen from your online gallery, there’s no sales session) and costs £95.
Cake smash and tub splash sessions are also included in my baby photography club – the Joey Club so if you have a little one (under four months) take a look at that to find out more about capturing your first year together.
