This young man had just turned one year old and his parents had booked him a photo shoot including a cake smash and a tub splash to celebrate and commemorate the end of a crazy twelve months as a family.

His mum had been up late the night before making two identical cakes – one for his photo shoot and one for his party later that day – and they looked gorgeous with their blue and yellow butter icing.  Good squishy butter icing is key to a cake smash cake – shop bought cakes can have very hard icing as they have to be transported with getting smashed to pieces – whilst they still taste amazing the icing can be hard to squish and make a mess with which is a lot of the point of a cake smash photo shoot.

After he had had his fill of cake, it was on to the tub which his mum and dad teamed with my duck accessory set for a good splash and a clean up before it was time to get back and carry on the party at home.
