This is Max in the studio for his first birthday photo shoot, he was a little bit older than 12 months but no-one is going to remember that when they look back on the photos in the years to come.  It just goes to show that you can still celebrate with a cake smash even if you’ve missed the actual big day itself.

This session was shot a little differently to my normal cake smash and tub splash sessions as it was against a plain white background whereas normally I use my patterned / wood effect backdrops. However, his big sister had already had a cake smash in this type of style and so they wanted something similar so when they hang the pictures on the wall, it all looks like part of a set.  My studio is very versatile and I’ll always try to match styles with previous photography where I can so feel free to get in touch if there’s something you would like to do.

Max was a little unsure about the whole experience to begin with which is very common and certainly to be expected when you’re working with tiny people.  So we just applied a little time, a few cuddles, lots of patience, some bubbles for distraction purposes and he was soon well into the swing of it.   Yep, you can’t normally suck cake through a straw but he certainly had a good go and cake smashes are all about the spirit of exploration!  A quick clean up in the tub, with a few more bubbles applied for good measure and he was good to go.  A great set of images that will look fabulous alongside his sister’s on the wall!

A cake smash and tub splash photo shoot is the perfect way to celebrate and commemorate that extra special first birthday.   We start with a clean shoot and mum, dad and siblings are welcome to get involved here as well for family pictures if you’d like to.  Then it’s time to get out the cake for some smashing fun!  After that, it’s time to fill your choice of tub with warm and bubbly water for more great pictures and a good old icing removal clean up.  Each session includes your three favourite digital images (chosen from your online gallery, there’s no sales session) and costs £95.
