So the work doesn’t stop after we’ve finished a shoot with any photos but it’s particularly true with a newborn shoot. Babies have been underwater for a long time and so it’s only natural that this should show in their skin. Then there’s some other edits that need to be taken care of as well to ensure your new baby photos are absolutely perfect.

In the case of this already gorgeous little lady, her mum had brought along a headband in a colour that she adored. Unfortunately I didn’t have a blanket in exactly the right shade (much as I’d like to have every colour under the sun, I do have to share the studio with my husband and he might actually throw me out on my ear if I expand my claimed space too much more). So in this situation, I simply picked the closest shade and matched it in after the fact. A perfect blend and I’m still allowed to use the studio! A little skin softening and a balancing and voila!

Newborn Photography

A newborn photo shoot is best when your baby is between 5 and 10 days old as this is when they are at their maximum sleepiness and poseability to capture those dreamy shots.  For this reason, I definitely recommend that you book when you are pregnant as this is one less thing to worry about scheduling when you’ve just got home from the hospital.   We make an appointment for your due date plus 7 days and then adjust it as needed.

My newborn shoots include your three favourite digital images which you select from your online gallery a few weeks after your photo shoot – I don’t make you attend a sales or viewing session.  Sessions take place in my warm and cosy studio in Crawley Down and cost £95.
