There comes a time in the year when my little box of Christmas props sneaks itself into the studio so people have the option of adding a little festive touch to their photo shoots and creating presents and holiday card images during their visit. Obviously I have a big Christmas event that goes all out festive with themed sets but there is a box of hats, outfits and accessories that is a permanent resident in the studio at the end of the year.
I’m being cagey on the timescales here as officially it is the 1st November that Christmas props make an appearance as this is deemed the ‘appropriate’ time to start mentioning the C word but actually in truth, it’s usually in there from the start of October. Yep, don’t judge me… It’s not only that I get excited about Christmas although that is undeniably part of it but also that people who come in October, particularly with the baby photography club, probably won’t visit again naturally before the end of the year and so it’s kind of their last chance to get Christmas photos although it’s a little bit early to talk about it in public.
Christmas photos make such great presents for parents and grandparents and so many people like to make photo Christmas cards now (honestly people thought I was mad when I first started suggesting about ten years ago it leading me to believe that I am indeed ahead of my time 🙂 ) and it’s always lovely to Christmas shop when you don’t have to go near the high street I think. I have santa outfits, hat, red tutus, reindeer and snowman outfits and lots of other bits and pieces that you’re welcome to browse and borrow for your session.
Anyway, I’ve once again got sidetracked by the seductive subject of Christmas and not actually yet mentioned the gorgeous Freddy who’s just smiling away at me from the top of this post. There are of course photos of him with his clothes on but he did seem to particularly enjoy being without them – whether it was the softness of the blankets or just that he could show off more of himself I don’t know but it was a look that really worked for him. Four months old and already a pro!
