a bright blue eyed girl looks into the camera lying on her tummy

I’m all for a set and a theme in photos – I love the creativity that they bring to the image and I love designing them to meet my clients’ requirements.

There’s something truly magical about baby blue eyes. Whether they stay that way or darken as they grow, they always seem to catch the light beautifully, making them a stunning focal point in baby photography.

Why Baby Eye Colour Changes Over Time

Did you know that many babies are born with blue or greyish eyes, even if they won’t stay that way? This is because a baby’s iris doesn’t have much melanin at birth, and their true eye colour develops over the first year or two as melanin production increases. That’s why a baby’s blue eyes may shift to green, hazel, or brown as they grow!

In the studio, I always work to bring out those sparkling little details, whether it’s the deep navy of newborn eyes or the bright crystal blue of a six-month-old. Careful lighting and soft tones help make their natural eye colour pop in photos.
