Arthur was visiting to enjoy a cake smash and tub splash as one part of his birthday celebrations and he certainly came dressed for the occasion in his smart outfit complete with a miniature bow tie!

His cake was perfect, covered in squishy buttercream icing  – that’s the best type of icing as it makes a really good mess and it can be fun to play with.  Royal icing is not so squishable and so it doesn’t work quite so well.   Then his mum and dad selected my white roll top bath for the tub splash portion of the session along with my ‘splish splash’ set of accessories.

I have a choice of two tubs for the tub splash – this one and my vintage tin tub and they both shoot equally well although I usually recommend my tin tub if your baby is quite dinky as it is a bit shallower than the white one and so we can see them better.  Arthur however was the perfect size for either and had a lovely time splashing around in the warm bubbly water!

We mixed and matched bunting from my collection to include both blue and ‘1’s and they worked perfectly together. On the very important subject of bunting (anyone who has met me knows that I do actually take this subject VERY seriously!), I have a large and ever growing collection that you are welcome to select from.  If you’d like to bring along your own, then of course you are welcome to and it needs to be at least five feet long to allow me to pin it to the backdrop.

One top tip, don’t go with ones that spell out messages like ‘happy birthday’, I love them personally but in the photos, you can’t actually get the whole message in so they don’t work too well in photo shoots – great at parties though!

A cake smash and tub splash photo shoot is the perfect way to celebrate and commemorate that extra special first birthday.   We start with a clean shoot and mum, dad and siblings are welcome to get involved here as well for family pictures if you’d like to.  Then it’s time to get out the cake for some smashing fun!  After that, it’s time to fill your choice of tub with warm and bubbly water for more great pictures and a good old icing removal clean up.  Each session includes your three favourite digital images (chosen from your online gallery, there’s no sales session) and costs £95.
