This is little Ruby – a bright and beautiful rainbow baby who seemed to enjoy her photo shoot a lot judging by the amount of smiles that she was favouring us with!

She was a little bit older than I would photograph as a newborn and so we just scheduled a family photo shoot instead – when babies are over three weeks old, although they are still really tiny, it’s very difficult to get those tucked up and sleepy poses that you can before this point in a traditional newborn photo shoot.  Getting them to sleep is not so much of a challenge but they are already very engaged with their surroundings so they are quick to wait to see what is going on when you try to reposition them.  That doesn’t meant that you can’t still celebrate those early weeks and capture lots of great images, it’s just a different type of photo shoots where we also work with the baby when they are awake as well as asleep.
