I’ve been doing cake smash and tub splash photo shoots for six or seven years now so it’s not like they are a new session for me. However, 2019, has just seen a surge in the amount of families coming to visit to celebrate that important first birthday with one of these fun sessions.

They are always such a giggle even though they can be a bit unpredictable – you can never tell in advance whether a baby will refuse point blank to touch the cake or get stuck in and eating like there’s no tomorrow.  It’s kind of that aspect that makes them fun. I’ve done so many of them now, I’m kind of prepared for any eventuality and getting a little expert in creating fun images whatever the circumstances – a lot of babies are quite shy of the cake but the good news is that you don’t need total cake devastation in order to get fun photos! When we’re finished with the cake then it’s time to get into the tub for a clean up and more fun before it’s time to go home. This year has seen some popular additions to my props and accessories including the vintage florals which I think might be equaling the giant ducks in popularity now.

So thanks to you if you visited to celebrate this year – thanks to all the cake eaters, sticky fingers, bubble catchers and tub splashers who prefer more water out of the tub than in it.  You’ve made my 2019 a landmark party year!

Cake Smash & Tub Splash Photo Shoots

A cake smash and tub splash photo shoot is the perfect way to celebrate and commemorate that extra special first birthday.   We start with a clean shoot and mum, dad and siblings are welcome to get involved here as well for family pictures if you’d like to.  Then it’s time to get out the cake for some smashing fun!  After that, it’s time to fill your choice of tub with warm and bubbly water for more great pictures and a good old icing removal clean up.  Each session includes your three favourite digital images (chosen from your online gallery, there’s no sales session) and costs £95.

Cake smash and tub splash sessions are also included in my baby photography club – the Joey Club so if you have a little one (under four months) take a look at that to find out more about capturing your first year together.
